For further questions feel free to contact our office by phone.
For all reservations you will receive a confirmation number. If you have made your reservation online, please have the confirmation page with the number and barcode ready to present upon arrival this boarding pass is your ticket and you do not need to go to the ticket office.
Tickets for passengers may be purchased online, in person at the Bristol or Prudence ticket offices, or over the phone. A reservation ahead of time is not necessarily needed for a passenger ticket but the vessel does have a capacity limit for passengers, so keep this in mind when planning a trip over on a busy weekend. Passenger categories include Adult (ages 12+), Child* (ages 5-11) and Infant* (up to age 4). Please select the correct category for all your passengers and although infants do travel free it is important to get them a ticket to ensure the crew and staff know the correct number of passengers aboard. Bikes and 4 wheeled carts/baby carriages require a ticket as well and may be purchased online, in person or over the phone. When aboard the vessel to ensure your safety and the safety of others aboard, please respect the captain and crew at all times and follow the policies and rules posted both on the vessel and online.
*Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult to ride the ferry.
Reservations for vehicles under 1 ton and up to 20 ft long may be made online, over the phone or in person. Most personally owned vehicles fall in this standard sized vehicle category including cars, mini-vans, SUVs and most trucks. All vehicle reservations include the cost of the driver as well as the vehicle. You will be asked the length of your vehicle when making your reservation*. It is important to know which of the following length categories your vehicle falls under: up to 18 feet, up to 19 feet, up to 20 feet. Please know and select the accurate length for your vehicle. Staff and crew may check vehicle length when the vehicle arrives at the ferry. If the vehicle does not match up with the reservation that has been made, the vehicle will be placed on standby. Standard sized vehicles must be at the ferry dock 15 minutes prior to departure, late vehicles may be placed on standby and are not guaranteed passage. When arriving at the ferry in Bristol, vehicles with reservations may line up on the right of the parking lot facing the ferry ramp allowing room for vehicles currently on the ferry to drive off. Once your vehicle is in line, the driver must remain with the vehicle as vehicles often need to be moved around prior to and during ferry loading. Always wait for a signal from the crew before driving on or off the ferry.
*If you are traveling with a rack on the front or back of your vehicle this must be included in your overall vehicle length when selecting your vehicle size
Remember to familiarize yourself with our Terms and Conditions including policies on changing or canceling a reservation.
Vehicles longer than 20 feet or with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of over 1 ton (dump trucks, box trucks, work vans, construction equipment etc.) must make a reservation with a staff member in person or over the phone. We ask that these reservations be made Monday through Thursday. When making a reservation for an oversize vehicle you must know the GVW and length of the vehicle before calling or speaking to the office staff/crew. This prevents customers from being overcharged for vehicles and provides staff and crew accurate information for properly loading the ferry. Staff and crew may check vehicle length and GVW when the vehicle arrives at the ferry and if the vehicle does not match up with the reservation that has been made the vehicle will be placed on standby. These reservations are best made well in advance, we recommend 2 weeks prior to your travel date if possible, as reservations for oversized vehicles need to be approved by the captain for the tide as well as with other vehicles already reserved for that ferry run. Oversized vehicles are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to ferry departure, late vehicles may be placed on standby and are not guaranteed passage. Visit our Rates page for the cost of travel for oversize vehicles.
Reservations for a trailer of any kind (boat trailer, landscape trailer, livestock trailer etc.) must be made by speaking to a staff member in person in the office or over the phone. We ask that these reservations be made Monday through Thursday.
